DERBY EVE GALA BACKGROUND
Louisville’s most elegant and fun Derby event for entertaining is the Derby Eve Gala. The 2010 gala will be held on Friday, April 30 in the Medallion Ballroom of the beautiful and historic Seelbach Hilton Hotel.
The Derby Eve Gala was originated and organized by Joyce King Jennings, who introduced the party into the Kentucky Derby scene in 1995. Her concept was to offer a posh event in an elegant setting, with fabulous food, lavish décor and spectacular, electrifying entertainment. From year one, the plan was a tremendous success. The Derby Eve Gala has hosted corporate VIP’s and dignitaries from all over the world. It is the most impressive party for hosting Derby guests in elegance and style – the perfect opportunity for companies to entertain friends or impress clients, while linking their names with a first class, stellar event!
For the past 12 years, the American Lung Association has been the designated charity to receive net proceeds from the event. After organizing the gala for 15 years, Ms. Jennings decided after last year’s party to step aside in order to pursue other endeavors and graciously entrusted the party to her partnering charity, the American Lung Association. At this year’s gala, the American Lung Association will pay special tribute to Joyce Jennings for her outstanding contributions on behalf of the fight against lung disease. In the spirit of previous parties, the Lung Association is continuing Ms. Jennings’ tradition of hosting a spectacular, outrageously entertaining Derby Eve Gala on the evening before the Kentucky Derby.
In addition to corporate attendees, the gala attracts many individual couples and groups from all across the country. Individual reservations may be made for $300 per person.
Proceeds from the gala benefit the American Lung Association. Contributions help fund medical research, patient services, education and advocacy for public policy in support of the association’s mission to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease. |
